Single Star Chime with two little desert bells. Made by Janmamad Luhar and his family in the Kutchchi desert region of western India. Recycled steel is used to form the bells. Each bell is first beaten into shape by hand, dipped in copper, padded with clay, then buried under the hot desert sand in a kiln. This firing anneals the metals into bronze. After firing, the clay is chiseled off. Finally, Janmamad personally hand-tunes each bell in every chime! This age-old technique of metal-work is what gives each piece its unique patina and tone.
Approximately 9" in length. Made in Gujerat, India.
